Caring For Your FRY POWERS Jewels

PEARLS

The best way to maintain your pearls’ luster is to wear them often. Your body’s natural oils help maintain their beauty.

Care Tips:

  • Please keep your pearls away from salt water, perfumes, cosmetics, perspiration, chlorine, vinegar, ammonia or dirt.

  • Always put on your pearls last, after using hair products and perfume.

  • Gently wipe pearls with a slightly damp cloth after wearing them.

  • Never wash pearls with an ultrasonic cleaner.

  • Wash your pearls periodically with mild soap (not detergent) and a soft cloth. Rinse them in clean water and wrap them with a thin, damp cotton towel to dry them.

  • If pearls come in contact with food or liquid, immediately wipe your jewelry with a soft damp cloth and dry with a towel.

  • Remove your jewelry before exercising.

  • Pearls require humidity. When storing them, make sure the environment is not too dry or they may crack.

  • Pearl strands should be restrung every two years if worn regularly or when the string becomes dirty.

TURQUOISE

Care Tips:

  • Please keep your turquoise pieces away from perfumes, household cleaners, chlorine (remove jewelry before swimming in chlorinated pools) or cosmetics as the chemicals in these items can affect the quality and appearance of your jewelry.

  • Since turquoise is a softer stone, avoid impact with hard surfaces and wear your piece with care.

GOLD

Gold is naturally tarnish resistant, but can lose its luster over time. To maintain its shine, routinely wipe your jewelry with a jewelry polishing cloth.

Care Tips:

  • To clean your jewelry, soak it in warm water with a little diluted dish soap and use a soft-bristle baby toothbrush to remove any dirt.

  • After cleaning, ensure the items are thoroughly dry by patting them with paper towels.

  • Please do not use any abrasive cleaners. Some at-home jewelry cleaners, steamers or ultrasonic machines can also do more harm than good.

STERLING SILVER

Tarnishing is a natural reaction when sterling silver is in the presence of salt water, air pollutants or everyday items that contain sulfur, such as leather, rubber and chlorine. To remove any tarnish, we recommend routinely wiping your sterling silver jewelry with a silver polishing cloth.

Regular wear of Fry Powers sterling silver jewelry can also help prevent tarnishing.

Care Tips:

  • Remove heavy tarnish with warm water, mild soap and a clean, soft cotton or flannel cloth, a special sterling silver cleaning cloth or a very soft-bristle brush like a baby toothbrush.

  • Silver polish or dip-style cleaning solutions are not recommended.

ENAMEL

Care needs to be taken when looking after enamel jewelry. Enamel pieces should not be worn in the shower, in chlorinated water, in salt water or when using cleaning products or chemicals.

Care Tips:

  • Avoid exposing enamel to extreme temperatures, cosmetics, lotions, acetone (such as nail polish remover) or jewelry cleaner.

  • To retain its luster, please do not wipe enamel with either side of a jewelry polishing cloth.

  • Protect your jewelry from impact against hard surfaces.

  • Wash enamel with mild soap and water using a soft cloth. After air drying, store it in a clean, dry place.

WOOD

Care Tips:

  • Please keep your wood pieces away from perfumes, household cleaners, chlorine (remove jewelry before swimming in chlorinated pools) or cosmetics as the chemicals in these items can affect the quality and appearance of your jewelry.

  • Since wood is a softer material, avoid impact with hard surfaces and wear your piece with care.
